Major Mariam Al Mansouri is the first female Emirati fighter pilot. She joined the UAE military at a time when women were banned from air force combat roles, but when that rule changed she managed to graduate from the Khalifa Bin Zayed Air College in 2007 and fulfill her dream of becoming a fighter pilot. She shot to fame in the Arab world when she led the UAE’s air strikes on DA’ESH in Syria.
