Known as the ‘golden voice of Africa’, Salif Keita is an Afro-pop singer-songwriter from Mali. His West African music is combined with influences from Europe and the Americas. In 1977 Keita received a National Order Award from Guianese President Sekou Toure. His music is very popular in the Francophone world, and more broadly in Europe. Keita’s latest album, La Diffrence, was awarded Best World Music 2010 by the Victoires de la Musique.
