Dr. Sherman Jackson

Dr Jackson is the King Faisal Chair in Islamic Thought and Culture and Distinguished Professor of Religion and American Studies and Ethnicity, and the Director of the Center for Islamic Thought, Culture and Practice (CITCAP) at the University of Southern California. He is a well-respected scholar and author of works dealing with Islam, shariah, Islamic jurisprudence and theology, and Islam in the African-American Muslim community. Jackson is the co-founder of the American Learning Institute for Muslims (ALIM) and has been featured on the Washington Post-Newsweek blog ‘On Faith’ and the Huffington Post. He is a former member of the Fiqh Council of North America and a former professor of Law, Near Eastern Studies, and Afro-American Studies at the University of Michigan.
