The wife of the late Abdul Sattar Edhi, Bilquis Edhi was a professional nurse and philanthropist in her own right. She ran several non-profit organisations for orphans, widows, and elderly people. Serving the nation for more than 50 years, she was known by the honorific title β€œMother of the Nation”. In 2015, she received the Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice.
