Known as the “golden voice of Africa”, Salif Keita is an Afro-pop singer-songwriter from Mali. His West African music is combined with influences from Europe and the Americas. In 1977 Keita received a National Order Award from Guianese President Sekou Toure. His music is very popular in the Francophone world, and more broadly in Europe. After a 40-plus-year career and having produced over 25 albums, Keita announced his retirement after his album β€˜Un Autre Blanc’ was released in 2018; however 2024 has seen him back on tour and about to release a new album So Kono, with another one due next year.
