Sheikh Dr Muhammad Al-Ninowy is a Syrian-American scholar, author, and medical doctor based in Atlanta, Georgia, whose lineage is traced back to the Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him). In addition to a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Georgia and a Doctor of Medicine degree, he is a traditionally trained muhaddith (scholar of Hadith). He is the founding director of Madina Institute and Seminaries, The Center for Non-Violence and Peace Studies, and the charitable organisation Planet Mercy, with campuses in the USA, Canada, the UK, South Africa, Malaysia, and Norway. Al-Ninowy also leads a Sufi school that follows the Sufism of Ahl-Al-Hadith. He was appointed by the Sultan of Malaysia in 2020 to serve as a member of the board of directors of the Islamic University and also serves as a visiting professor at several universities. An upcoming book is titled Nonviolence: A Fundamental Islamic Principle.
