Rabab al-Sadr Charafeddine is the current president of the Imam al-Sadr Foundation, established in 1962 by her brother, Imam Musa al-Sadr. The foundation focuses on empowering marginalized communities, particularly women and orphans, through education, vocational training, and healthcare services. Born in 1944, in Qom, Iran, Rabab moved to Lebanon at the age of 15 where she pursued a doctorate in philosophy with a dissertation on “The Practical Philosophy of Imam Musa al-Sadr.” In 2017, she was honored with the Grand Cross of the Order of Malta for her humanitarian efforts. She remains a vocal advocate for interfaith dialogue and social justice, emphasizing the importance of moral values, ethics, and citizenship in her work.
