Sri Mulyani Indrawati is one of a few Indonesian policymakers with an international profile. During her first time as Finance Minister (2005-2010), Southeast Asiaβs largest economy became one of the 20 leading economies in the world and one of the fastest-growing economies in the region, partly thanks to a combination of sound economic policies and a stable political environment. She was then appointed Managing Director of the World Bank in 2010, where she served until 2016 before returning to be Finance Minister for a second time.
